this year marks the 50th anniversary of dr. martens shoes, and hong kong’s contribution to the global celebration involves their signature 8-eye boot being interpreted by 10 local designers/fashioners, including G.O.D.’s very own douglas young.
the concept behind his design involves contrasting the hard look of the boots with the soft connotation that is associated with the traditional dragon and phoenix cloth that was once used by chinese women to make baby carriers with.
this pair of boots, along with 9 others, are now on display at the dr. martens store in tsim sha tsui, and are being auctioned off for charity. click here for more information.
